FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions about Regenerative Biologics Injections and their use in joint therapy:

What is Regenerative Biologics Injection Therapy?

Regenerative Biologics injection therapies, including Prolotherapy, Prolozone Therapy, Platelet Rich Plasma, and Human Cellular Tissue Therapy, offer a safe and cost-effective approach to treating musculoskeletal injuries and chronic pain. These noninvasive techniques have minimal side effects and don’t require sedation. Unlike steroid injections that merely reduce inflammation, regenerative injection therapies stimulate cell growth to repair and strengthen connective tissues like tendons, ligaments, cartilage, meniscus, and labrum. By addressing the root cause of chronic pain, often stemming from injury or structural weakness, these therapies provide long-term solutions and can significantly alleviate or even cure chronic pain. In many cases, they should be considered before opting for prolonged narcotic therapy or surgery.

What is Human Cellular Tissue therapy?

“Human Cellular Tissue therapy,” otherwise known as “Cell-based therapies” or “Stem Cells Therapy,” is a groundbreaking approach being explored across virtually every field of medicine. By harnessing the power of cells—the fundamental building blocks of the body—we aim to regenerate and repair damaged tissues. This innovative branch of medicine, known as regenerative medicine, diverges from traditional methods that rely on foreign chemicals or synthetic joint replacements. Instead, it utilizes the body’s intrinsic repair mechanisms, directing them precisely where they are needed most. This makes it one of the most natural treatments available in modern medicine.

What factors are considered when determining eligibility for cell therapy?

The criteria for qualifying for cell therapy encompass various considerations such as the patient’s medical condition, age, physical activity, overall health, and joint alignment. Additional factors taken into account include the effectiveness of previous treatment methods.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Is platelet rich plasma (PRP) part of the stem cell procedure?

Yes! Our system harnesses a blend of cells and PRP, offering you the advantage of both treatments combined to address your condition. PRP is rich in growth factors that promote the multiplication and movement of stem cells, while also reducing inflammation in the joints.

What is the added benefit of additional PRP injections, after the cell therapy?

As part of your cell therapy, we administer one PRP injection. To enhance the effectiveness of the cell treatment, we have observed significant benefits for patients who undergo two additional PRP treatments—one approximately a month after the cell procedure and another around two months later. These PRP sessions are conducted in our office and involve a straightforward blood draw. PRP is packed with growth factors that work synergistically with the cells, stimulating their growth and amplification. You can think of the cells as the “seed” and the PRP as the “fertilizer,” enhancing their potential to thrive and heal.

Prolozone Injections

What is Prolozone Therapy?

Prolozone therapy blends the best of classical Prolotherapy and Ozone therapy. It involves injecting a small amount of Ozone gas into tendons, ligaments, joint capsules, and joint spaces after Prolotherapy injections. This combination enhances tissue repair by boosting oxygen delivery to damaged areas, improving circulation, and triggering a cascade of growth factors such as PDGF, TGF-b1, and VEGF. Notably, Prolozone is highly effective in reducing pain. This innovative therapy can treat a range of conditions including arthritis, osteoarthritis, chronic joint pain, instability, spine issues, shoulder and rotator cuff injuries, golfer’s and tennis elbow, degenerative disc disease, and more. If you don’t see your condition listed, don’t hesitate to reach out to our office to explore how Prolozone therapy might benefit you.

What do you inject during Prolozone Therapy?

Following a prolotherapy or PRP injection, ozone gas is promptly injected into the affected tissue or joints. This process often utilizes the same needle that was used for the initial prolotherapy or PRP injection, eliminating the need for a separate injection specifically for ozone into the joint.

Do the injections hurt?

Prolozone therapy primarily causes common side effects such as pain, soreness, and a feeling of fullness at the injection site. Some patients may also experience bruising and mild bleeding due to needle insertion. The discomfort and soreness typically resolve on their own within 24 to 72 hours, although occasionally, they may persist longer. The solution used in prolozone therapy includes anesthetics, providing many patients with immediate pain relief.

  • While rare, if you find yourself experiencing persistent and intolerable pain after the injection, we encourage you to reach out to Moalemi. Prompt medical attention may be necessary to manage your symptoms with pain medication or further evaluation. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities, and we are here to support you throughout your recovery process.
